Experience, Cucina Aselina - Aldwych,

I must say that the first time I saw this restaurant I was extremely impressed with the interior (looking in: white leather, dimmed lights, tea lights etc.) and the Italian menu so I made a little vow to myself to make sure that I visit this place...

The day finally came the next following Sunday.

After a couple of hours of shopping through the beautiful Covent Garden and making some impressive purchases we decided to visit the Cucina Aselina. We were greeted by smiley,at first, blonde who when we told that we only wanted the desert and coffee menu gave us the briefest look that showed us she wasn't impressed.

She then took us into the dim lit room waited till we were seated and then gave us the menus.

After she left, literally 2 secs after, our waitress came and greeted us, asked for our order and the waltzed away. When our orders came I was thoroughly surprised with mine.

First of all, I ordered a warm chocolate cake.. what I received was a sort of melt in the middle type pudding except without the melted chocolate in the middle. It also had a ball of plain flavored vanilla ice cream which actually really complimented the 'cake'. I wasn't overly impressed with this desert but it would have been a decent sized desert if we had a meal beforehand. The cake was 6 pounds, which is an reasonable price to pay as you are also paying for the service and the overall presentation. The staff were also very attentive but not over-bearing which can sometimes be hard to be, so the service was very impressive. The waitress that we had was also very friendly and it was apparent the she wanted to make us as comfortable as possible.

I am looking forward to coming to this restaurant again, but I will not be ordering the chocolate cake instead I want to try the tiramisu with the ameretto ice cream.

Have any of you guys been to Cucina Aselina? What was your experience like?
